Role Overview

We are seeking a professional with expertise in AOD Counselling and Case Management to join our team at Lithgow. This role is part of a diverse team that includes Lived Experience members, supported by an approachable manager who promotes independence and autonomy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performing this role requires the person to be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person, which is a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991.

With a background in AOD or Mental Health Counselling, you will be confident and capable working with a trauma-informed approach to case management and group facilitation, and have a passion for building community relationships and connections.

You will offer the following skills and attributes:

  • A strong background in developing individual treatment plans for clients with complex needs.
  • Knowledge of pre- and post-rehabilitation support and relapse prevention planning.
  • Understanding of the stigma and trauma associated with AOD use in First Nations people.
  • Resilience and a calm approach with the ability to manage conflict effectively.
  • Self-starting and self-managing, managing your own caseload of 20-25 clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication capability and the ability to adopt a tailored approach to your audience.
  • An understanding of the value of self-care and confidence to contribute to case conferences and team discussions.

Previous experience in Community or Residential AOD or Mental Health sector will be highly regarded.

You will need to have a degree in Human Services or Allied Health, or a Diploma and several years of experience, hold a current Australian Driver's Licence, and be eligible to obtain a National Police Check.
