Mental Health Recovery Program Assistant

Make a meaningful difference in the lives of Australians in need by joining our community mental health recovery program.

This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside individuals facing mental health challenges and help them achieve their recovery goals. As a Peer Worker, you will draw on your own experiences of overcoming adversity to inspire hope, reduce stigma, and show that a fulfilling life is possible.

Your Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop authentic relationships with clients by openly sharing elements of your own journey.
  2. Provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance that empowers individuals to take steps towards their own recovery.
  3. Co-design and co-deliver group sessions, outreach activities, and life skills workshops that promote resilience, self-determination, and community connection.
  4. Collaborate with clients, colleagues, and community partners to improve access to supports and enhance program outcomes.
  5. Model hope, mutual learning, and social inclusion in every interaction.
Requirements for Success

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Lived experience in mental health, disability, homelessness or substance use.
  • Minimum cert IV or diploma with relevant experience in community services/mental health/AOD related roles.
  • An understanding of combined lived experience and professional development that support recovery and proven ability to use this to positively support others on their recovery journey.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills including ability to build rapport and maintain relationships.
  • A high level of computer skills with strong communication skills.
  • Drivers' Licence.

Please note that before starting work, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, referee checks, WWCC.
