Renewal Specialist

Job Description:

The Renewal Specialist is accountable for managing the existing customer base to retain and grow revenue through retention sales, tech refreshes, add-ons, and renewals. This role executes in line with strategic objectives and initiatives to meet key performance indicators (KPIs).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Client Executives and Customer Success Managers to determine account strategy and identify qualified retention opportunities.
  • Develop and execute the install base management process, supporting retention sales within specific specialties such as renewal, tech refresh, keystones, and cloud subscriptions.
  • Maintain and improve retention rates, including on-time and in-quarter renewal rates, tech refreshes, keystones, and cloud subscriptions.
  • Establish profitable relationships with channel partners, customers, and account teams, focusing on retention and identifying opportunities for upselling while minimizing churn.
  • Design, scope, and prepare customer proposals aligned with specialty requirements.
  • Own the quoting process and quote quality for core renewals, tech refreshes, managed services, and cloud renewals, ensuring collaboration with the NetApp quoting team for quality, timeliness, and accuracy.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, providing technical advice and guidance related to customer proposals/quotes to address customer queries and channel partner inquiries, as well as compliance matters and policies.
  • Engage with channel partners to progress retention opportunities through the sales cycle, educate them on the retention install base process and opportunity management, and address customer/partner escalations related to retention sales and install base matters.
Required Skills and Education:
  • Hands-on experience as a renewal specialist in storage or similar IT space.
  • Aptitude and readiness for learning and understanding new technologies.
  • Creativity in problem-solving and excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical solutions and selling concepts effectively.
  • Strong data-driven insights execution ability.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience collaborating across time zones and cultures with cross-functional teams.
