About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for mentoring and supporting Indigenous Rangers stepping up into fire officer roles within their teams across the Kimberley region. The role involves identifying, training, and mentoring Indigenous Rangers as they undertake landscape-scale fire management over their native title and project areas.
Key Responsibilities- Mentor and advise Indigenous Rangers undertaking fire operations;
- Develop training and support material for Indigenous Fire Officers;
- Provide bespoke career development and training opportunities for Indigenous Rangers;
- Support Indigenous Rangers developing individual fire management plans for Native Title holders;
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A qualification in conservation, land management, or a related field;
- Familiarity with savanna fire operations and how they can reduce greenhouse gas emissions;
- Experience delivering one-on-one training and mentoring, especially with Indigenous people;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to work sensitively and effectively with Indigenous people;
- 4WD competence and certification in 4WD recovery;
- A valid Manual drivers' license;
- Able to travel by air and in helicopters.
This role offers a competitive salary of $85,000 - $105,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits including:
