Support Worker

We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Support Worker to provide front of house assistance to Cafe attendees at The Salvation Army's Melbourne Project 614.
This is a fixed-term, part-time position (10 hours per week, Wednesday and Thursday 3pm-8pm) based in Melbourne, VIC. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award Level 2.
Key Responsibilities- Engage with people in a non-threatening and empathetic manner to engage them in activities provided by Project 614.
- Manage client behaviour effectively and appropriately to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all attendees.
- Ensure detailed assessments are completed where appropriate, with referrals to internal and external services recorded.
- Coordinate set-up ensuring meals/beverages are served and presented in a professional and timely manner.
- Provide day to day support for volunteer activities, relaying performance feedback to the Melbourne Project 614 Volunteer & Engagement Coordinator.
- A tertiary qualification in community services/social work and/or related disciplines is desirable.
- A current and valid employee Victorian Working with Children Check is required.
- Experience within community services is desirable.
