About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to join our corporate team at East Coast Rock Works Pty Ltd. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in developing tender responses to secure further work in a broad range of civil projects, including roads, cycleways, streetscapes, drainage, bulk earthworks, sewer, and water.

Delivering high-quality, innovative, and sustainable infrastructure solutions to both government and private clients, we pride ourselves on our strong team culture and commitment to safety, quality, environmental, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyse project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare estimates.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for equipment, materials, labour, and subcontractor services.
  • Prepare tender submissions and proposals for both government and private clients.
  • Attend pre-tender meetings and site inspections.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and other pertinent team members to develop estimates.
  • Manage relationships with subcontractors and suppliers, sourcing competitive quotations.
  • Perform risk analysis and identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
  • Monitor project costs and variations throughout the life of the project.
  • Work collaboratively with the Estimating Manager and estimating team to develop shared knowledge and extend team capability.
Requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook.
  • Minimum 5 years industry experience.
  • Relevant qualifications in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Civil Estimator, estimating for civil construction projects, including roads, drainage, earthworks, remediation works, and water and sewer mains.
  • Familiarity with financial and project management principles.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of all estimates and proposals.
  • Assist in conducting post-tender negotiations.
  • Prepare Subcontractor packages.
  • Work closely with key leaders in the business to own and drive successful outcomes.
  • Excellent negotiation, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritise to tight and often competing deadlines, and work under pressure.
  • Knowledge of local government tender processes and industry regulations.
  • Possession of a valid C-Class Driver's license.
