Strategic Portfolio Management Leader

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to lead a team of specialists and analysts who help portfolio leaders plan, deliver, and monitor work programs.

The successful candidate will oversee and improve TasNetworks' non-network project portfolio, manage enterprise portfolio services, and build a prioritized rolling 5-year program plan for the non-network portfolio.

  1. Develop and implement strategies to align budgets and regulatory allowance with the program of work
  2. Monitor portfolio health and address risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities
  3. Provide insights and advice to senior leaders on planning and prioritisation and support investment decisions with clear, data-driven advice aligned to strategy

About You

We're looking for a strategic thinker and collaborative leader who can bring structure, transparency, and alignment to a dynamic and diverse portfolio.

  • A proven ability to influence and build effective relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of program and project lifecycle management and enterprise governance
  • Experience leading through others, rather than owning individual projects directly
  • Confidence to challenge constructively and work cross-functionally to solve problems
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse technical and non-technical audiences

Requirements

  • A proven people leader with a focus on achieving great outcomes in partnership with your team and stakeholders
  • Over 10 years' experience with at least 5 years in portfolio management, investment planning or similar areas
  • Tertiary qualifications, ideally in digital, commercial, or business disciplines (or equivalent experience)
  • Formal project or program management certifications
