Lead Oncology Nurse Manager Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Lead Oncology Nurse Manager to join our team. As a key member of our clinical leadership, you will be responsible for providing expert nursing care and operational direction to our Adult Day Oncology Unit.

  • To provide strategic leadership and direction to ensure the effective management of human, financial, and material resources.
  • To foster positive working relationships with diverse stakeholders, including patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • To stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in oncology nursing practice and implement evidence-based care approaches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical leadership and operational direction to the unit.
  • Coordinating the delivery of nursing care that is evidence-based.
  • Ensuring the delivery of excellent patient and family-centered care in a team-focused environment.
  • Providing guidance, mentoring, and support to team members.
  • Being accountable for the effective management of human, financial, and material resources.
  • Undertaking direct patient care as required.
  • Ensuring compliance with ACQSHC National standards.
  • Current registration with AHPRA.
  • Registered nurse with at least 5 years' experience in an acute oncology or day infusion setting.
  • Demonstrated management or in-charge experience.
  • Proven experience in building and leading high-performing teams with a service excellence approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster positive working relations with a wide range of diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a good knowledge base in labor management.
  • Understand the requirements of private health funding.
  • Demonstrable excellence in written and verbal communication skills including advanced negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • A commitment to a high standard of clinical and customer-focused care.
  • High degree of computer literacy including MS Office and various databases.
  • Ability to work cohesively within a team environment.
  • Hold EVI-Q credentialing for chemotherapy administration.
  • Tertiary postgraduate qualifications in a relevant nursing specialty.
  • Tertiary postgraduate qualifications in management (or working towards).
  • A demonstrated understanding of Work, Health and Safety legislation.
  • A demonstrated understanding and implementation of quality improvement, change management, models of care, evidence-based practice, and practice development.
