About This Role

The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an Industry Officer to fill a key position at the Beechworth Correctional Centre.

As an Industry Officer, you will play a critical role in managing and delivering specific functions within prison industries. Your responsibilities will include assisting with prisoner employment, ensuring safe operating procedures, and maintaining Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) standards.

Key duties of this role include:

  • Supervising the achievement of commercial production targets and customer expectations, as well as developing and monitoring budgets, procuring goods and services, and ensuring compliance with security, OH&S, and food safety regulations.
  • Actively identifying, referring, and supporting prisoners' participation in integrated education and employment programs.
  • Delivering against production performance targets, industry requirements, and OH&S and food safety standards.

To succeed in this role, you will have demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively with staff, prisoners, and other service providers in delivering a comprehensive, whole-of-Justice approach to reducing re-offending. You will also require up-to-date knowledge of modern industry techniques and the maintenance of industry equipment.

While relevant qualifications or experience in the food service industry are desirable, we also welcome applications from candidates with transferable skills and a strong ability to learn and adapt. If successful, you may be required to complete Prison Officer Pre-Service Training on commencement if not previously completed.
