Process Operator Specialist Job Overview

This role plays a critical part in ensuring efficient operation of industrial processes. The ideal candidate has experience working with equipment that utilizes engines, motors, fluid piping, electrical systems, and instrumented controls.


Responsibilities:
  • Identify equipment and process deviations, perform corrective actions to maintain optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and calibrate various process equipment, including centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, gas analyzers, control systems, and instrument electrical systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and fabricators to implement fluid and mechanical designs in the field.
  • Work with engineers and technicians to create operating procedures and ensure seamless coordination across multiple disciplines.
  • Utilize knowledge of systems and documentation to manage hardware inventory, procure critical spares as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in mechanical or electrical engineering technology, along with 4+ years of experience in automated processes.
  • OR high school diploma or equivalency certificate, accompanied by 6+ years of experience in control room operations, plant operations, mechanic/millwright support, instrumentation/electrical operations.

Preferred Skills:
  • Familiarity with process parameters and engineering units for temperature, pressure, flow, and power.
  • Ability to read and understand P&ID and schematic wiring diagrams.
  • Experience with mechanical equipment, system isolation, and repair/replacement of bearings, gears, and structural components.
  • Familiarity with lock out tag out, job hazard analysis, and hot work permitting.
