Stroke Care Specialist
The Stroke Care Specialist plays a pivotal role in promoting and operating the Werribee Mercy Hospital's (WMH) Stroke Service.
- Ensures the efficient and effective provision of patient care, based on clinical care standards and best practice principles within a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
- Participates in the coordination of person-centred, holistic care.
- Supports excellence in clinical practice and promotes the development of the multidisciplinary team, within their scope of practice.
- Participates in local, service, and subregional quality activities.
- Demonstrates competence in the provision of person-centred care as specified by the registering authority's licence to practise, education preparation and context of care.
- Demonstrates a sound level of skills in assessment, care planning, practice and evaluation in the provision of care to clients and their significant others.
Requirements:
- Mandatory: Physiotherapist or occupational therapist holding registration to practice with AHPRA or speech pathologist with eligibility for practising membership of their professional association; Relevant tertiary qualifications (Bachelor, Masters or equivalent recognised degree); Extensive clinical experience working with patients who have experienced a stroke; Demonstrated understanding of evidence-based stroke care; Experience working in acute, sub-acute, community, and rehabilitation settings; A current Victorian Driver's licence; A current Police Check dated within 12 months of issue.
- Desirable: Post-graduate qualification in a relevant clinical speciality; Specific high-level specialist knowledge in Stroke and TIA care; Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and strategic thinking capability; Proven ability to complete administrative and reporting requirements to a high standard within set timeframes; Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, and proven ability to lead, co-ordinate, and work with a multidisciplinary team; Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with stakeholders at different levels in health organisations; Experience in developing, delivering, or co-ordinating education programs for health professionals in a clinical environment; Experience in leading or participating in research activities; Highly developed organisational, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to relate positively to people from diverse backgrounds; Demonstrated ability to be actively involved in CQI (Continuous Quality Improvement); Experience in networking, coordinating, and liaising with a wide range of service providers and other relevant bodies.
