Position Overview
The National Health Information Management role is pivotal in overseeing the operational leadership and administration of health information systems and services across the organization. This includes the management of medical records, clinical coding, medical transcription, health information governance, privacy, and release of information.

Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership in the development and management of health information services. Ensure compliance with medical, legal, ethical, and legislative standards in the management of health information. Oversee the integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of both electronic and paper medical records. Coordinate clinical data collection and analysis for billing, quality assurance, and research initiatives. Manage the training and development of the health information management team to enhance operational efficiency. Facilitate the design and implementation of policies and procedures for the control and retrieval of health information. Act as the Privacy Officer, ensuring legal compliance in the release of health information. Conduct regular assessments to promote continuous improvement in clinical coding and data quality. Collaborate with clinical leaders to streamline health information services.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Health Science (Health Information Management) or a related field. Eligibility for membership in the Health Information Management Association. Proven experience in health information management and auditing. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in spreadsheet applications. Postgraduate qualifications in education or vocational training are advantageous.
