The National Health Information Management (HIM) Manager is responsible for the operational leadership and oversight of health information services across our national network. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with medical, legal, ethical, and legislative standards while managing a dedicated team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and management of health information services and systems.
- Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of both electronic and paper medical records.
- Coordinate clinical data collection for billing, quality assurance, and research initiatives.
- Oversee the medical records departments to guarantee proper storage, retrieval, and destruction of records.
- Facilitate quality improvement activities to maintain data integrity and enhance clinical coding processes.
- Manage the timely submission of relevant activity data to internal and external stakeholders.
- Design and implement policies regarding the control, use, storage, and retrieval of health information.
- Act as the Privacy Officer, coordinating access and release of health information.
- Recruit, train, and develop the health information management team.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support the professional growth of team members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Science (Health Information Management) or a related field.
- Eligibility for membership in HIMAA.
- Proven experience in Health Information Management.
- Strong auditing skills and proficiency in spreadsheet applications.
- Postgraduate qualifications in Education or Vocational Training are preferred.
