Empower young adults with Autism to develop their capacity and independence by joining our support team in Carlton. This part-time role offers a flexible schedule with day, overnight, and weekend shifts available.

About the Role

As a Support Worker, you will engage with individuals in their daily living, build their confidence, and support their recovery journey. Our Supported Independent Living (SIL) home in Carlton provides 24/7 residential support for young adults (18-35) who primarily have a diagnosis of Autism but may also have other disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with daily activities such as domestic tasks, health management, social skills development, and community access.
  • Build rapport and manage challenging behaviors by following established plans.
  • Support attendance at regular meetings with case managers and health professionals.
  • Record accurate case notes and maintain infection control measures.
  • Enable social inclusion in the community.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Essential criteria include:

  • Two years' experience working with young adults with Autism or relevant qualification and one year's experience.
  • Enthusiasm about building capacity and independence.
  • 'Can-do' attitude, adaptability, and willingness to learn.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to follow plans.
  • Punctuality and reliability.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Current driver's license and confidence driving.
