Job Title: Tailings Specialist

We are seeking a seasoned professional to fill the role of Principal Tailings Engineer in Perth, Brisbane or Melbourne.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Civil and geotechnical engineering expertise is essential for this position.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for tailings dam design and geotechnical analyses using various software packages.
  • Experience with tailing deposition modelling (Muk3D) is highly desirable.
  • Geotechnical and environmental site characterisation will also be a key aspect of the job.
  • Instrumentation monitoring systems need to be developed and managed by the engineer.
  • Project/task management and proposal preparation support will also be required.
  • Engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications must be prepared by the engineer.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or a related field is mandatory.
  • An Advanced degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Professional registration is preferred but not essential.
  • Engineer of Record (EoR) certification is necessary.
Desirable Skills:
  • At least 8 years of experience in a consulting environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Proficiency in relevant geotechnical engineering software is necessary.
  • Knowledge of numerical modeling tools is beneficial.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments and meeting strict deadlines is crucial.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills are essential.
  • Field work and overnight travel may be required.
  • A valid Australian driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel are necessary.
