Merchant Growth Specialist

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Payments Business Development Manager to join our Merchant Sales team for a 12-month contract role. As the BDM for Merchant Growth, you will develop and execute business strategy to drive growth by identifying and pursuing new opportunities, building relationships, and delivering business plans to expand market reach and revenue.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute business development strategies to grow business value and achieve strategic goals.
  • Conduct market research and analyse industry trends/competitor activities to identify potential new markets, customers, and partnerships.
  • Develop and deliver proposals and presentations to current/potential members/customers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with members/customers and partners.
  • Manage existing customer accounts and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Negotiate and finalise contracts with new and existing clients, ensuring compliance with legal and contractual obligations.
  • Determine appropriate measures, scales and targets, and analyse to identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on business development activities.
  • Attend industry events and conferences and stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven Business Development/Sales experience in a Payments environment, preferably in a Merchant-facing capacity.
  • Experience creating and maintaining organisational-level strategies to align overall business plans, actions and resources with high-level business objectives.
  • Proven experience assessing the attractiveness of possible investments or projects.
  • Well-honed ability to manage the preparation and submission of bids and proposals for contracts, grants, projects, or services.
  • Ability to influence stakeholder attitudes, decisions, and actions for mutual benefit.
  • Hunger to drive opportunity and growth.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills – ability to tailor messaging per audience.
