Small Forest Landowner Regulatory Support Specialist

The Department of Natural Resources has an opportunity within its Small Forest Landowner Office. This role involves providing guidance to staff and landowners regarding the impact of forest management activities on fish and wildlife, as well as their habitats. Using professional judgment and expertise, this position consults and provides technical assistance to help landowners prepare for and implement forest practice activities.

This includes understanding and applying riparian rules, preparing Forest Practices Applications, and addressing related issues such as alternate plans and templates. The primary duties also involve consulting with staff and landowners to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing regulatory support to small forest landowners and office staff
  • Assisting with forest practice applications and alternate plans
  • Ensuring compliance with riparian rules and regulations
  • Collaborating with staff and landowners to implement best practices
Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a strong understanding of forest management practices and regulations. A proven ability to work independently and as part of a team is also essential.

A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as forestry or environmental science, is preferred. Additionally, relevant work experience in a similar role or industry would be advantageous.

Benefits:

This is a full-time, permanent position with a competitive salary range of $5,241.00 – $7,043.00 monthly. Work hours and partial telework flexibility may be available and considered.
