About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Compliance professional to join our team as Head of Compliance, Australia. This is a unique opportunity to lead our compliance professionals in supporting the Aon Australia and Papua New Guinea (PNG) business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all compliance duties and responsibilities as they pertain to the Aon Australia and PNG businesses.
  • Work closely with the legal lead in Australia, compliance leads in Asia and New Zealand, and business stakeholders across Aon's three lines of defence.
  • Lead and inspire the Australian compliance team through driving global goals locally applied and ensuring talent is retained and careers are developed via talent management.
  • Maintain Aon's global Policies and relevant local addenda.
  • Drive fact-based progress of compliance programs and their effectiveness, collaborating with global Compliance Operations to find ways to drive efficient reporting and compliance assurance.
  • Oversee the assessment of new laws, regulations, and trends in Australia and PNG and their applicability and implementation to Aon's operations.
  • Partner with the Chief Risk Officer Asia Pacific and relevant risk team members to maintain APAC's risk management framework as part of Aon's enterprise risk management framework.
  • Support regular risk assessments as part of ERM reporting and statutory requirements.
  • Advise relevant Aon Boards and Risk Committees to satisfy all required corporate governance requirements and drive compliance.
  • Proactively support and advise on required regulatory change programs in response to new regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • Operational compliance management experience with exposure to financial services, including general insurance or insurance broking.
  • Process-oriented with an interest in using technology to aid delivery of compliance services in the most effective and scalable manner.
  • Tertiary degree or equivalent in law, finance, business, or commerce.
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate a team onshore and offshore.
  • Demonstrated capacity for commercial-oriented problem-solving.
  • Process improvement-oriented, and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
  • A proven track record in regulatory change in the financial services environment.
  • Ability to influence and articulate strategy in a straightforward and amiable manner that encourages partnership and general teamwork across the enterprise.
