About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legislative Support Manager to join our team at the Department of Industry, Science and Resources. As a key member of our Legislative Support Team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective administration of offshore petroleum and greenhouse gas storage titles, as well as offshore electricity infrastructure licence administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the Legislative Support Team to ensure the delivery of high-quality legal advice and support to the NOPTA Branch.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) legal branches to ensure effective liaison and coordination.
  • Provide expert advice on complex legal matters arising under the Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage Act 2006 (OPGGS Act) and Offshore Electricity Infrastructure Act 2021.
  • Oversee the drafting of legal requests and review of legal advice to ensure accuracy and compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Work closely with the Regulatory Support Team to implement legal advice and ensure effective coordination of NOPTA Branch responses to Freedom of Information requests.
Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (or commensurate qualifications/experience).
  • Proven experience in administering legislation, including administrative decision making.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with key stakeholders.
  • Initiative and leadership skills, with experience in building a positive team and workplace culture.
