Job Overview

The Staff Platform Engineer is a pivotal role responsible for administering and maintaining the backup and recovery environment across hybrid infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor system health, job performance, and storage utilisation proactively to ensure optimal operations.
  • Lead root cause analysis and resolution of backup failures, restore issues, and performance bottlenecks through meticulous troubleshooting.
  • Provide expert-level support and mentor junior engineers in developing their technical skills.
  • Ensure adherence to data retention and protection policies to safeguard business continuity.
Requirements:
  • Expert-level hands-on experience with Commvault, DataDomain, Networker, CommServe, Media Agents, and client configurations to deliver seamless services.
  • A strong understanding of backup policies, deduplication, catalogue management, and storage targets (ECS, Pure, VMAX) is essential for driving efficiency and innovation.
  • Proficiency in VMware technology – Aria Suite, VRA/VRO Automation – is required for streamlining processes and enhancing productivity.
  • Experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM) and AWS Cloud Practitioner certification is necessary for navigating cloud-based solutions effectively.
  • Familiarity with scripting and automation tools (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, Terraform) is required for automating tasks and reducing manual intervention.
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools and reporting dashboards such as Grafana and Prometheus can aid in data-driven decision making.
