Job Overview

We are seeking a seasoned expert in backup and recovery to join our team as a Staff Platform Engineer.

The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience with Commvault, DataDomain, Networker, CommServe, Media Agents, and client configurations.

A strong understanding of backup policies, deduplication, catalogue management, and storage targets is essential for this role.

This position requires proficiency in VMware technology – Aria Suite, VRA/VRO Automation.

Experience with scripting and automation tools (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, Terraform) is also necessary.

Familiarity with monitoring tools and reporting dashboards such as Grafana and Prometheus is required.

Responsibilities
  1. Administer and maintain the Commvault backup and recovery environment across hybrid infrastructure.
  2. Monitor system health, job performance, and storage utilisation proactively.
  3. Lead root cause analysis and resolution of backup failures, restore issues, and performance bottlenecks.
  4. Provide L3 support and mentor junior engineers.
  5. Maintain detailed documentation for backup configurations, SOPs, and disaster recovery plans.

This role requires collaboration with cloud, infrastructure, and application teams to integrate Commvault with AWS and other platforms.

Candidate must participate in capacity planning and architecture reviews.

Requirements
  • Expert-level hands-on experience with Commvault, DataDomain, Networker, CommServe, Media Agents, and client configurations.
  • Strong understanding of backup policies, deduplication, catalogue management, and storage targets.
  • Proficiency in VMware technology – Aria Suite, VRA/VRO Automation.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, Terraform).
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools and reporting dashboards such as Grafana and Prometheus.
Nice to Have

Extensive experience in enterprise backup and recovery, Commvault Certified Professional or higher, strong understanding of storage concepts, allocations, and replication technologies, and exposure to ITIL processes and change management are desirable.
