Backup Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Backup Engineer to join our team. As a Backup Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing a robust backup and recovery strategy for our enterprise environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Administering and maintaining the backup infrastructure across hybrid environments
  • Monitoring system health, job performance, and storage utilization proactively
  • Leading root cause analysis and resolution of backup failures, restore issues, and performance bottlenecks
  • Providing level 3 support and mentoring junior engineers
  • Ensuring adherence to data retention and protection policies
  • Maintaining detailed documentation for backup configurations, SOPs, and disaster recovery plans
  • Designing and testing disaster recovery strategies
  • Applying a strong risk mindset to proactively mitigate risks
  • Automating routine backup tasks using scripting tools (Python, PowerShell, Ansible)

You will have the opportunity to work with a variety of technologies including Commvault, DataDomain, Networker, CommServe, Media Agents, and client configurations. We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of backup policies, deduplication, catalogue management, and storage targets (ECS, Pure, VMAX). Experience with scripting and automation tools (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, Terraform) is also essential.

In addition to your technical skills, we are looking for someone who is able to work collaboratively as part of a team and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
