Enterprise Data Protection Specialist

 

Job Summary:

Data protection and backup expert required to manage, optimize, and scale enterprise backup and recovery infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Commvault, DataDomain, Networker, CommServe, Media Agents, and client configurations. They should also possess a strong understanding of backup policies, deduplication, catalogue management, and storage targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain Commvault backup and recovery environment across hybrid infrastructure.
  • Monitor system health, job performance, and storage utilization proactively.
  • Lead root cause analysis and resolution of backup failures, restore issues, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Provide L3 support and mentor junior engineers.
  • Ensure adherence to data retention and protection policies.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for backup configurations, SOPs, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Design and test disaster recovery strategies.
  • Apply a strong risk mindset to proactively mitigate risks.
  • Automate routine backup tasks using scripting tools.
  • Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, and application teams.

Requirements:

  • Expert-level hands-on experience with Commvault, DataDomain, Networker, CommServe, Media Agents, and client configurations.
  • Strong understanding of backup policies, deduplication, catalogue management, and storage targets.
  • Proficiency in VMware technology – Aria Suite, VRA/VRO Automation.
  • Proficiency in AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM) and AWS Cloud Practitioner certification.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, Terraform).
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools and reporting dashboards such as Grafana and Prometheus.
