Job Description

This is a key role in our procurement team, responsible for leading the buying process for food, grocery and merchandise.

The successful candidate will work at head office in Darwin and travel to regional stores, partnering with internal teams and major suppliers to deliver the right product, at the right price, in the right place.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop category plans, select products and negotiate with suppliers across food, grocery and general merchandise.
  • Build long-term relationships with major distributors.
  • Review pricing integrity, manage promotional planning and ensure margin targets are met.
  • Collaborate with retail and logistics teams to ensure stock is delivered in full, on time and within budget.
  • Support store teams with core range implementation and product performance insights.
  • Travel to remote store locations to assess stock, gather feedback and build relationships.
Requirements:
  • At least 3 years of experience in buying, procurement or category management (retail/FMCG/grocery/wholesale).
  • Proven experience in supplier negotiations, contract management and margin control.
  • Strong data skills – able to analyse reports and make commercial decisions.
  • Excellent communication and adaptability – able to engage with everyone from store teams to executives.
  • A collaborative and community-minded attitude, with a drive to give back through your work.
  • Willingness to travel to regional and remote locations as part of your role.
