Katherine Town Council is a Municipal Council serving the Katherine community by providing essential services including rates, roads, infrastructure, animal control, waste management, and more.
Located in the Big Rivers region, Katherine is a critical crossroads point for Northern Australia, connecting Perth to Darwin from the west and Adelaide to Darwin through the north/south highway and rail corridor.
We service the wider region with access to education and medical services. Our community of around 8,000 people benefits from the local RAAF Airbase at Tindal, which adds an extra 2,000 residents.

About YouWe're looking for someone who shares our values and can bring their skills and qualifications to this role:
- Certificate qualification relevant to the position
- Sound written and verbal communication skills
This casual role reports directly to the Library Services Coordinator and focuses on providing high-quality customer service across all aspects of the Katherine Public Library's services.
- Provide consistent, high-quality customer service to library patrons.
- Operate relevant software systems.
- Maintain order of the library collection.
- Receive and balance financial transactions as required and in accordance with Council procedures.
- Participate in delivering programs and services with an emphasis on community engagement.
- Engage with visitors and provide support for various library services.
- Other responsibilities associated with or incidental to the above.
- Ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
- Assist in implementing the Local Counter Disaster Sub-Plan in the event of a disaster.
- Service the community proactively responding to their needs.
- Foster sustainable relationships with the community and stakeholders.
- Work in accordance with Council's Vision and Mission statement.
