About Us

Katherine Town Council is a Municipal Council that provides services to the Katherine Community relating to rates, roads, infrastructure, animal control, waste management and other core essential services.

Located in the Big Rivers region, Katherine is the fourth largest township in the Northern Territory, providing access to education and medical services to the community.

The Council's vision is for Katherine to be a place of opportunity where we live, work, learn and grow together.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the works schedule for the outdoor services team.
  • Be responsible for the upkeep, maintenance, and beautification of the Katherine Municipality.
  • Plan the provision of scheduled and reactive works for the Infrastructure and Environment Department.
  • Ensure WHS compliance to Council policy, procedure and applicable legislation.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to meet the positions key responsibilities.
  • Current NT Drivers Licence.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in managing staff in delivering scheduled works.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Provide positive leadership, management, and development of the Works Team.
  • Ensure staff are aware of WHS obligations and safe work methods.
  • Attend regular meetings and participate in cross-department collaboration and communication initiatives.

Asset and Facility Management:

  • Ensure the Depot Facility is maintained in safe and clean manner.
  • Oversee the effective management of Council's tools, equipment and resources.

Work Health and Safety:

  • Be an active member in the Work Health and Safety Committee.
  • Ensure works are carried out as per Council's WHS Policies and procedures.
