About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Pathology Business Operations Manager to join our team at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne (SVHM). In this role, you will be responsible for managing the financial operations of our pathology service, ensuring accurate and timely revenue data, and developing robust financial systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the budget process and financial performance of the Pathology service in association with the Operations Manager and Medical Director of Pathology.
  • Oversee annual budgets, business plans, tender submissions, and commercial contracts.
  • Develop and maintain robust financial systems and processes that provide reliable financial performance data and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, accounting practices, and SVHM policies.

In addition to these key responsibilities, you will also be expected to take a lead role in the development of the St Vincent's Pathology budget, set financial targets, and develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor departmental performance. You will also advise on remedial actions in the event of budget variances.

Requirements
  • Relevant qualification in business or accounting.
  • Experience and knowledge of public health funding and pathology billing.
  • Ability to initiate and maintain stakeholder relationships to advance clinical, business, and strategic goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform business analytics and prepare concise reports.
  • Significant strategic business and financial acumen with demonstrated ability to produce, review, and update cost-effective budgets and re-forecasts with full rationale.
