Infection Prevention Coordinator Role

This is a critical position within our care teams. As an Infection Prevention and Control expert, you will provide strategic guidance and support to our care teams across the region.

About the Position

As a permanent, part-time role, you will work in our Aged Care Centres with a minimum of 32 hours per week. Your primary responsibility will be to lead infection prevention and control activities for our dedicated team members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular audits to assess current practices and develop recommendations for improvement.
  • Assess, promote and contribute to the development of Infection Prevention and Control Policy, Procedures and Outbreak Management Plans.
  • Participate in compliance audits and report on findings.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive training programs.
  • Provide expert knowledge and guidance on Infection Prevention and Control, and the identification and management of diseases/complications in our Aged Care Centres.
  • Manage and respond to infection and infection-related matters.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Nurse Educator to ensure high standards of education and competency in infection control among employees.
  • Communicate effectively with residents and their families on Infection Prevention and Control measures.
  • Coordinate vaccination programs for residents and employees.
  • Lead outbreak response efforts, including meetings, internal and external line listing, and post-outbreak debriefs.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • A registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse, preferably with substantial post-basic experience in Nursing.
  • Completed ICC training COVID-19 infection control online training modules, specifically: Infection Control Training - COVID 19, Immunisation certificate, All aged care modules.
  • Completed or enrolled in suitable IPC training course for completion as mandated.
  • Demonstrated understanding of infection prevention principles and outbreak management.
  • Ability to interpret Infection Control and Waste Management Standards and develop related policies and procedures.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, attention to detail, and negotiation skills.
  • High-level written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
