
Supporting Victims of Domestic Violence

As a Domestic Violence Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting victim-survivors of domestic and family violence in our community. Your work will be focused on providing crisis intervention, safety planning, court support, and ongoing counselling to those affected by domestic violence.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide crisis intervention including intake and assessment
- Offer crisis counselling and ongoing DV counselling
- Assist at Cairns Domestic Violence Court with information and referral
- Work closely with the Queensland Police Service (QPS) on improving the safety of victim-survivors
- Engage in group work and community education
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of client work
To be successful in this role, you will need tertiary qualifications in behavioural or social sciences. While experience is preferred, we also welcome applications from new graduates who are willing to undergo training and upskilling.
