About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced HR Policy Officer to join our People Policy team at the Australian Federal Police. As an HR Policy Officer, you will play a critical role in shaping the strategic direction of our organization and driving employment relations legislation and policy change.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement HR policies and guidelines that align with Commonwealth legislation and AFP employment frameworks.
  • Provide expert advice to AFP leaders and employees on HR-related matters, ensuring proactive and effective management of employee relations risks.
  • Lead engagement with key internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, unions, and community groups.
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform HR policy development and implementation.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including the Senior Executive.
About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced HR professional who possesses excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. You will have a strong understanding of HR theory, frameworks, and principles, as well as the ability to analyze and interpret complex information.

You will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities and deadlines. You will also have a proven track record of developing and maintaining strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

Requirements
  • Australian citizenship.
  • Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Relevant work experience in a HR role or HR Policy team.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field or progress towards this outcome.
