Youth Program Manager

About the Role
As a Youth Officer with NSW Department of Communities and Justice, you will play a pivotal role in supervising and working with young people in Youth Justice Centres across New South Wales. This shift-work based position involves night shifts and weekend work, requiring flexibility and adaptability.

Your Responsibilities:
- Supervise young people in custody, ensuring their physical, emotional, and psychological needs are met
- Respond to challenging situations with empathy and professionalism
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for young people and staff within the centre
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks, promoting a culture of safety and well-being
- Serve as a positive role model, reinforcing boundaries and expectations
Requirements:
- Meet citizenship or residency requirements
- Possession of a minimum Provisional 2 NSW driver's licence
- National Background Police Check
- NSW Working with Children Check Clearance
- Possession or willingness to obtain the 'Provide First Aid Certificate' (HLTAID003)
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Medical and Fitness Assessment to determine suitability for the role
About You:
- You must be willing to complete 5 weeks of full-time training to prepare you for entry-level duties
- You must pass assessments during this initial training period to be declared ready for entry-level duties
Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on experience and location. This figure is subject to review and may vary.
