Youth Development Specialist

As a Youth Officer with the NSW Department of Communities and Justice, you will play a vital role in supporting young people in custody to develop essential life skills and reintegrate into society.
This shift-work based position offers a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young individuals, while working within a secure residential unit of a Youth Justice Centre.

- Supervise and support young people in custody, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met
- Respond to challenging situations with empathy and professionalism
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for both young people and staff
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement programs that promote positive behavior and rehabilitation
- Communicate effectively with young people, colleagues, and external stakeholders
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge
- Meet citizenship or residency requirements
- Possess a minimum Provisional 2 NSW driver's licence
- Hold a valid National Background Police Check and NSW Working with Children Check Clearance
- Be willing to obtain the 'Provide First Aid Certificate' (HLTAID003)
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and build strong relationships

We offer a competitive salary package, including an estimated annual salary of $70,000 - $80,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
