We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced academic psychiatrist to join our team at the University of Wollongong. As a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Psychiatry, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching and research in the field of psychiatry.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of our Doctor of Medicine (MD) program, which is delivered primarily on three campuses located in Wollongong, Shoalhaven, and in the Southern Highlands. You will be responsible for providing expert clinical teaching in psychiatry to MD students, with a focus on facilitating the delivery of the MD degree, particularly in Mental Health teaching in Phase 3 of the curriculum.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality teaching in psychiatry to MD students, including introductory and intermediate levels
  • Develop and implement programs to support teaching within the rural training hub and across the GSM's MD rural training footprint
  • Engage clinical academic staff to support teaching and research in psychiatry
  • Contribute to the development of the MD program and its curriculum
Requirements
  • Hold a current or anticipated appointment as an Advanced Trainee/consultant psychiatrist in the Shoalhaven, Southern Highlands or one of UOW's MD rural training hubs (by negotiation)
  • Be a qualified medical graduate currently undertaking Advanced training in psychiatry, or eligible for unrestricted registration as a psychiatrist in New South Wales (without conditions on registration) as an FRANZCP
  • Comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases (PG1) Policy Directive
