Strategic Director of Estate and Infrastructure

At a leading institution, we're seeking an experienced leader to shape the physical and commercial footprint of our campuses for generations to come.

This pivotal role requires a highly skilled professional who can lead strategy, delivery, and optimisation across property, infrastructure, operations, and commercial services. You will be responsible for stewarding and transforming our estate and infrastructure portfolio to deliver maximum strategic value, support world-class teaching and research, and enhance the student experience.

You'll join a collaborative leadership team and be empowered to drive innovation, commercial performance, and long-term impact. With a portfolio spanning historic and contemporary campuses, major capital projects, commercial partnerships, and sustainability initiatives, this role offers the platform and scale to make a lasting difference.

The Role:

  • Develop and implement a long-term estate, property, and infrastructure strategy in alignment with the university's vision.
  • Oversee major capital works and lifecycle asset planning across a complex operating environment.
  • Drive operational excellence in maintenance, compliance, safety, and service delivery.
  • Lead cultural and operational transformation, embedding an integrated, commercially focused approach.
  • Optimise commercial outcomes and partnerships while preserving service quality and enhancing student/staff experiences.
  • Engage effectively with stakeholders to enhance the institution's reputation and opportunities.

About You:

  • A proven track record in leading estate, infrastructure, property, or commercial operations within a large organisation.
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to optimise asset performance and negotiate major partnerships.
  • Deep capability in strategic planning, governance, compliance, and risk management.
  • Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary teams and transformational change initiatives.
  • Outstanding stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
