Job Description

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) seeks an experienced Business Affairs Lead to join our Content team in Sydney.

About the Role:

We are looking for a seasoned business affairs professional with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to manage the negotiation of commissioned content on behalf of our Content teams. As a senior member of the team, you will work closely with stakeholders to build and maintain relationships and provide strategic advice on commercial aspects of deal terms and risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the negotiation of commissioned content, including all deal terms with third parties.
  • Manage the negotiation and finalization of project documentation for commissioned content.
  • Draft, negotiate, and finalize development agreements, talent agreements, music agreements, and commissioned content production deal terms.
  • Provide strategic advice and policy updates to ABC stakeholders on commercial aspects of deal terms and risk management.
  • Supervise and manage team members as required.

Requirements:

  • Appropriate tertiary education, law degree essential.
  • Significant experience in drafting deal terms and long-form documentation required.
  • Proven experience in contract management and understanding of rights management, preferably within a business affairs department.
  • Strong understanding of the television, streaming, and broadcasting industry and the commercial and risk issues associated with commissioning and acquiring television programs.
