Job Description

This is a senior role within the Business Affairs team at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), focusing on the negotiation of commissioned content deals.

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional commercial negotiation skills, with experience in managing deals related to television program development, financing, production, and acquisition. A strong understanding of rights management, industry policy, and strategic advice is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate commissioned content deals on behalf of the ABC, including deal terms and contract documentation.
  • Manage project documentation and ensure compliance with relevant policies and standards.
  • Draft, negotiate, and finalise development agreements, talent contracts, music agreements, and commissioned content production deal terms.
  • Provide strategic advice to stakeholders on commercial aspects of deal terms and risk management.

Requirements:

  • A law degree and significant experience in drafting deal terms and long-form documentation.
  • Proven experience in contract management and an understanding of rights management.
  • Strong knowledge of the television, streaming, and broadcasting industry, including commercial and risk issues associated with commissioning and acquiring television programs.

About You:

We are seeking an experienced business affairs negotiator with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will be adept at leading commercial negotiations, driving project outcomes, and providing strategic advice. They should have a proven track record in managing deals related to television program development, financing, production, and acquisition.
