The Law Society of NSW is seeking a Senior Professional Compliance Manager to lead the Professional Support Unit.

About the Role

This is a full-time position that involves overseeing and improving the delivery of services to solicitors in relation to ethics, costs, and regulatory compliance.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing guidance on ethical and regulatory obligations under the Uniform Law, as well as emerging regulatory issues affecting solicitors.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the PSU hotlines and emails in a timely manner.
  • Leading the staff of the Unit, including performance appraisals.
  • Developing continuing education products and services based on data and evidence from complaints processes.
  • Creating education and communication strategies to respond to emerging regulatory trends and issues.
  • Overseeing support provided to the Costs and Ethics Committees by the Unit.
  • Ensuring efficient use of resources.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in law and a current practising certificate.
  • Practice experience and a sound knowledge of regulatory compliance and anti-money laundering legislation or policy principles.
  • A high level of professional and technical knowledge of legislative procedures and the legal profession.
  • Working knowledge of all relevant legislation.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks.
  • Sound understanding of legal practice management and compliance auditing principles.

We offer a competitive salary of $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience.
