About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Safety and Compliance Professional to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring our work environment remains safe for all employees, contractors, and visitors.

Salary:

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary package commensurate with experience, which includes a base salary of $120,000 per annum, plus additional benefits and incentives.

Job Description:

The primary purpose of this role is to provide support and advice to the operations team on matters related to health, safety, and compliance. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing and implementing regional plans to advance towards our goal of Zero Harm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement regional plans to advance towards our goal of Zero Harm
  • Support organisational change in safety behaviour and culture to achieve the highest levels of employee engagement on safety matters
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments of the scope of operations, including mining operations, working environment, current work practices, and procedures
  • Assist site personnel in the development of site and task-specific risk assessments, operational procedures, and work instructions, and conduct ongoing reviews of the effectiveness and compliance to risk control measures
  • Lead and conduct incident investigations, including the preparation of investigation reports
  • Conduct site compliance inspections and safety audits
  • Assist in the management of Workers Compensation claims and Rehabilitation Plans/Programs
  • Provide immediate support for incident investigations, hazard management, and follow-up on closeout actions

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Identification and implementation of effective safety initiatives
  • A thorough understanding of safety within heavy industry
  • Ability to undertake large-scale risk assessments
  • Ability to develop tactical and strategic plans to address safety issues
  • Understanding of training principles and their application in addressing safety issues
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in an operational environment
  • Safety or related qualification from a tertiary institution
