Position Overview
An exceptional opportunity has arisen within Tal's Finance division for a Senior Risk Management Specialist. Reporting directly to the Head of Business Management and Risk within Finance, you will be an integral part of a frontline risk team tasked with ensuring regulatory compliance and financial integrity through proactive risk oversight.
This role offers flexibility and is based out of our Sydney office.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide timely risk management and compliance analysis to stakeholders across the Finance department, facilitating commercial success while ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory standards.
- Guide and support the business in identifying, categorizing, measuring, and monitoring risks and compliance obligations.
- Lead and mentor one direct report, including setting objectives, planning for development, and offering guidance to foster their success at Tal.
- Assist Finance stakeholders in recognizing potential risks and compliance challenges related to their operational objectives, including support in incident and breach reporting.
- Coordinate the development of remediation strategies and implementation plans for essential corrective actions and preventive controls, ensuring necessary approvals are obtained.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to assess the scope and implications of forthcoming regulatory and legislative changes.
- Support key reporting obligations, delivering insights on operational risk issues such as root causes of incidents.
- Create a strategic roadmap for risk and compliance initiatives, aligning priorities with senior stakeholders.
- Stay informed on critical updates to compliance regulations and risk management policies, particularly in relation to Finance obligations.
- Implement and refine guidelines and procedures within your area of responsibility, reviewing their effectiveness and proposing enhancements that align with best practices and business objectives.
- Oversee mid to large-scale risk management and compliance projects aimed at enhancing service delivery or act as a key resource in significant projects.
- Prepare information reports for the Finance Risk Committee, supplying relevant data to aid management decision-making within the business unit and the broader Tal organization.
Qualifications
- Degree in a relevant field.
- Extensive experience in a risk management and compliance setting or a related field.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
- Proficient analytical skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of the insurance sector.
- Proficient in computer applications, particularly MS Office.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to convey technical issues related to the role.
