The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Risk Consultant to join our Risk, Legal & Compliance team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in providing risk management guidance to support sound business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide Risk Management Guidance: Offer expert advice and support to senior leaders and their teams to ensure they operate within acceptable risk parameters.
  • Develop Risk Understanding: Build a deep understanding of business areas to drive risk discussions, contribute to risk assessment activities, and promote a risk culture.
  • Manage Risk Profiles: Oversee the review and update of divisional and business risk profiles and risk registers, including facilitating risk workshops.
  • Conduct Risk Management Activities: Oversee business incident management, monitor the completion of business key risk mitigation testing plans, and conduct core risk management activities in accordance with the Risk Team Operational Plan.
  • Support Policy Development: Assist in reviewing and updating relevant policies, such as the Risk Management Framework, Risk Management Strategy, Risk Appetite Statement, and Business Continuity Management policies.
  • Implement New Risk Management Practices: Support the implementation of new and improved risk management practices as part of HCF's continuous risk maturity uplift.
  • Provide Group-Wide Risk Analysis: Support the Senior Risk Manager and the Head of Risk Management to provide group-wide risk analysis, insights, and reporting to the Executive and Board Risk and Compliance Committees.
About You

You should have a proven ability to collect relevant data, critically analyze and synthesize information, and translate it into meaningful and practical outputs, advice, or solutions to present at a senior management level.

Requirements:
  • Experience: Working in a risk advisory or consulting role, or in an APRA-regulated environment.
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of the IT industry.
  • Critical Thinking: Continuous improvement mindset and ability to think critically.
  • Communication Skills: Proven ability to offer concise advice, while demonstrating business acumen that highlights a thorough knowledge of business objectives.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Effective interpersonal and written skills and a demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt and adopt ways of working to support team deliverables and meet business needs.
  • Continuous Learning: Desire to learn, develop your skills, and grow in a supportive team environment.
  • Autonomy: Autonomy in managing day-to-day work delivery and ability to manage priorities to ensure objectives are met.
  • Collaboration: Proven willingness to work collaboratively across cross-functional disciplines.
