Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has arisen within TAL's Finance division for a Senior Risk Management Specialist. Reporting directly to the Head of Business Management and Risk, you will be an integral part of a frontline risk team dedicated to ensuring regulatory compliance and financial integrity through effective risk management practices.

This role is structured as a 12-month contract, offering flexible working arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide timely Risk Management and Compliance analysis and guidance to Finance stakeholders, ensuring commercial success while adhering to legal and regulatory standards.
  • Assist the business in identifying, categorizing, assessing, and monitoring risks and compliance obligations.
  • Offer leadership to one direct report, including setting objectives, planning development, and providing guidance for their success at TAL.
  • Support Finance stakeholders in recognizing potential risks and compliance challenges related to their operational objectives, including incident and breach reporting.
  • Coordinate the development of remediation strategies and implementation plans for critical corrective actions and preventive controls, securing necessary approvals.
  • Engage with various stakeholders to assess the scope and implications of forthcoming Regulatory and Legislative changes.
  • Contribute to key reporting requirements, offering insights into operational risk issues such as incident root causes.
  • Establish a roadmap for risk and compliance initiatives, aligning priorities with senior stakeholders.
  • Stay informed on significant changes to compliance regulations and risk management policies, particularly regarding Finance obligations.
  • Implement and refine guidelines and procedures within your area of responsibility, evaluating their quality and efficiency while proposing enhancements that align with best practices and business objectives.
  • Oversee mid to large-scale Risk Management and Compliance projects aimed at enhancing service delivery or act as a key resource in extensive projects.
  • Prepare information reports for the Finance Risk Committee, providing relevant data to facilitate management decision-making within the business unit and the broader TAL organization.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Extensive experience in a Risk Management and Compliance environment or a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Proficient analytical skills.
  • A solid understanding of the insurance sector.
  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly MS Office.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to convey technical issues effectively.
