About the team

Airwallex is building a state-of-the-art lending platform and a suite of related credit products, including customer-facing credit cards.

The Cards team is revolutionizing the way businesses issue credit cards and manage employee expenses. We solve complex challenges around data and feature complexity in credit cards and expenses, working at the intersection of our backend infrastructure and customer-facing applications.

What you'll do

As a Engineering Lead at Airwallex, you'll have a high-impact role collaborating with Product & Engineering teams across the organisation, managing a full-stack product-focused team.

The role includes both people & technical responsibilities, and you'll be responsible for both product delivery and overall team health.

This role is based in Sydney, Australia.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline
  • Solid understanding of back-end and front-end development and best practices
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with a focus on low-latency, distributed systems
  • Experience managing and mentoring a team of engineers
  • Experience with backend technologies such as Java, Kotlin, Spring / Spring Boot
  • Strong problem-solving mindset, comfortable working with customers, partners, and the Airwallex Engineering team
  • Executive engagement skills and presence, with ability to establish strong relationships with key decision-makers
