We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Chef to join our kitchen team and help deliver the authentic Sankalp experience to our valued guests.

Location: 3/57 Forsyth Rd, Hoppers Crossing VIC 3029
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $76,000 – $80,000 + Superannuation

The Role
As a Chef, you’ll play a key role in preparing, cooking, and presenting authentic Indian dishes to the highest standards. Working in a fast-paced kitchen, you’ll collaborate with a skilled team to maintain quality, efficiency, and consistency across all service periods.

Key Responsibilities
1. Plan, prepare, and cook authentic Indian dishes including curries, tandoori, breads, biryanis, and regional specialities.
2. Supervise and coordinate activities of kitchen staff to ensure smooth and timely service.
3. Maintain portion control, presentation, and flavour consistency in all dishes.
4. Ensure compliance with food hygiene, safety, and sanitation standards (HACCP/WHS).
5. Oversee daily mise en place, stock rotation (FIFO), and ordering of supplies.
6. Assist in menu development, including new dishes and seasonal specials.
7. Monitor and manage kitchen inventory to minimise waste and control costs.
8. Train and mentor junior cooks and kitchen hands.
9. Collaborate with the management team to maintain service excellence and customer satisfaction.
10. Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly used, cleaned, and maintained.

Skills & Experience
1. Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification).
2. Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Chef in an Indian or multicultural restaurant.
3. Expert knowledge of Indian cuisine, spices, tandoor operation, and curry preparation.
4. Strong leadership, communication, and team coordination skills.
5. Sound understanding of WHS, HACCP, and food safety practices.
6. Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and presentation.
7. Passionate about quality, consistency, and continuous improvement.
