Job Title: Chef Cook
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team at our Modern Australian café restaurant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating innovative, high-quality dishes that reflect the diverse flavors of modern Australian cuisine, using fresh, seasonal ingredients. This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver exceptional food in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Menu Development & Planning: Collaborate with the Head Chef and management to create and update a seasonal menu that celebrates Modern Australian cuisine, offering a balance of traditional and contemporary dishes.
- Food Preparation & Cooking: Prepare and cook high-quality meals from scratch, ensuring consistency and presentation standards are maintained.
- Ingredient Sourcing & Stock Management: Select, order, and ensure the use of the freshest ingredients. Manage inventory, ensuring proper storage and minimizing food waste.
- Quality Control: Monitor food quality at all stages of preparation and cooking to ensure all dishes meet the restaurant's standards for taste, presentation, and portion size.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health regulations.
- Team Leadership & Collaboration: Supervise and mentor junior kitchen staff, helping them develop their skills while ensuring the kitchen runs efficiently and the team works collaboratively.
- Customer Focus: Ensure customer satisfaction by preparing dishes that meet the needs of diverse dietary preferences and special requests, while maintaining exceptional quality.
- Consistency & Speed: Work efficiently under pressure, delivering orders in a timely manner without compromising quality, especially during peak times.
- Innovation: Stay updated with food trends, techniques, and innovations in Modern Australian cuisine, integrating new ideas and seasonal inspirations into the menu.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as a Chef, preferably in a modern Australian café or restaurant environment.
- Strong knowledge of Modern Australian cuisine, with a focus on seasonal, fresh, and locally sourced ingredients.
- Experience in menu planning and development, as well as stock control and inventory management.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure.
- Excellent leadership and team collaboration skills, with the ability to train and motivate kitchen staff.
- Strong communication skills and a customer-centric attitude.
- A passion for food, creativity, and a commitment to producing exceptional dishes.
- A sound understanding of food safety, hygiene standards, and kitchen equipment.
