Position: Chef

An exciting opportunity opens up for Chef to join our team at Angkor Cafe & Restaurant located in West Melbourne, Victoria. Join our growing team with a love for food

Key Responsibilities:

● Plan and creative innovative and appealing Asian cuisine menus, considering dietary restrictions and customer preferences

● Accurately estimate food and labor costs to ensure profitability

● Manage inventory and order food supplies, ensuring freshness and quality

● Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation

● Demonstrate advanced cooking techniques and provide guidance to kitchen staff

● Prepare and cook food to the highest standards

● Lead and motivate kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment

● May select, train, and supervise kitchen staff

● Effectively communicate with Managers, Dietitians, and waiting staff to address food preparation issues and ensure smooth service

● Ensure strict adherence to all hygiene regulations and food safety standards

● Explain and enforce hygiene protocols to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment

● May utilize appropriate techniques to freeze and preserve foods, extending shelf life and reducing waste

What We're Looking For:

● Certificate IV in Cookery or Diploma in Hospitality Management (Required)

● Food Handlers Certificate (Required)

● Have at least one (1) year experience as a Chef

● Knowledge of Asian cuisine, ideally Cambodian (nice to have, but optional)

● Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment

● A passion for delivering high-quality food
