Marketing and Communications Manager – Ovarian Cancer Australia

- Lead national marketing and communications to amplify awareness, fundraising and support services.

- Champion storytelling, digital engagement and community connection to drive impact and visibility.

- Join Australia’s leading ovarian cancer organisation at a pivotal time of growth and transformation.

- Melbourne-based | Hybrid | Full-time

Impact of the organisation

Ovarian Cancer Australia (OCA) is the national leader in advocacy and support for the 1,800 women diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year and their families.

Through a dedicated team of nurses, counsellors, advocates, and engagement professionals, OCA delivers free, evidence-based, specialist support services across Australia and advocates for better treatments, increased research funding, and health system reform.

With a bold new strategic plan underway, OCA is expanding its reach to support all women affected by gynaecological cancers, ensuring that no one walks alone. Guided by its values of listening, inclusion, courage, and integrity, OCA fosters a collaborative, inclusive culture where every voice contributes to driving awareness, compassion, and change.

An exciting time to join

OCA is entering a transformative period of strategic growth, investment, and national visibility, with the full support of Executive and Board members.

As the organisation prepares to mark its 25th anniversary, it is refreshing its brand, amplifying its public voice, and deepening engagement with supporters, partners, and the wider community. This is a fantastic time to join the team as OCA invests in sustainable growth across its fundraising and engagement programs.

Impact you will have in this role

As Marketing and Communications Manager, you will be the strategic and creative force shaping how Australians see, understand, and support OCA. Leading all consumer-facing marketing and communications across awareness, fundraising, and support services, you will translate purpose into powerful storytelling and ensure OCA’s voice is clear, credible, and deeply human.

Reporting to the Chief, Philanthropy & Engagement, you will oversee a small team and external creative partners to deliver integrated, insight-driven campaigns that inspire action and connection. From major awareness initiatives such as Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month to national fundraising drives and digital engagement programs, your work will elevate OCA’s visibility and drive growth in both reach and impact.

You’ll bring a strategic mindset and hands‑on leadership to guide brand evolution, digital innovation, and content excellence, ensuring OCA remains relevant, engaging, and emotionally resonant across every channel.

- Provide strategic oversight for milestone initiatives such as OCA’s 25th Anniversary and brand refresh.

Digital, Media & Community Engagement

- Oversee all media, advertising, and social media channels to maximise visibility and engagement.

- Guide digital strategy and ensure content reflects OCA’s tone, warmth, and purpose.

- Negotiate and secure additional pro‑bono media opportunities to extend campaign reach.

Collaboration & Leadership

- Lead and mentor a team including the PR & Communications Specialist, Digital Marketing Specialist, and Marketing & Brand Coordinator.

- Collaborate with fundraising and partnerships teams to deliver integrated campaigns and tailored communications.

- Provide marketing insights and reports to the CEO and Board, demonstrating impact and continuous improvement.

- Manage marketing and communications budgets and reporting.

- Tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications, or a related field.

- Proven experience leading marketing and communications across multiple channels.

- Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex, high‑impact projects.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail.

- Demonstrated ability to build strong stakeholder and media relationships.

- Strategic, creative thinker with a collaborative and resilient mindset.

- Alignment with OCA’s mission and values and a deep empathy for the cause.
