**Your new role**
- Provide a high level of technical systems support for over 700 business unit users across a Wide Area network with a standard desktop operating environment.
- Resolve emerging technical and network related problems by servicing calls from users on a 1st level support basis and escalating 2nd level support tasks to appropriate desktop support officers to resolve problems.
- Deliver a high standard of information technology resolution service, ensuring all users have appropriate computer access and programs to conduct their day-to-day duties on behalf of the council.
- Provide first tier support of the Council’s computer network, desktop computers and peripheral equipment so that all council staff have access to the necessary equipment for them to fulfil their positions.
**What you'll need to succeed**
- Proven record and experience in an IT first tier support / helpdesk support role with a tertiary qualification in business or information technology
- Understanding of smartphone technologies and experience in apps integration with computer systems
- Strong communication and customer service skills and ability to work in a flexible and professional manner
- Experience in working with request ticket based support systems and external services and support providers
- Experience in creating and updating technical documentation and generate clear technical instructions for diverse audiences
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills to readily identify, understand and resolve problems to satisfy user needs
- Knowledge and experience in imaging PCs and installation of hardware and wired & wireless network technologies
- Knowledge and experience in support of all versions of Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Active Directories
- Demonstrated skills in providing remote desktop support via VNC
- Sound knowledge of network administration, including router, server, firewall, backup and disaster recovery
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, SQL server, thin client technology and Virtual Server platforms.
