Department Liaison Officer based at the CBD within a State Government Sector
**Your new company**
Based in the Hobart CBD, this position will be acting within a Ministerial Office.
**Your new role**
The purpose of the role is to provide effective executive support to the Minister and staff of the Minister’s office, to ensure the efficient and timely flow of correspondence and information between the Minister and the department.
**Duties**:
- As the primary point of liaison between the Department and the Office of the Minister regarding the movement of documents, coordinate the flow of documents and requests for meetings
- Liaise with Departmental and Ministerial staff to ensure the timely preparation of correspondence, briefings, event packages, parliamentary information and other documents for the Minister;
- Review documents in respect to adherence to the style guide, grammar and fit for purpose content before they are presented to the advisers and/or Minister;
- Provide guidance, assistance and recommendations to Departmental and Ministerial staff in respect to the preparation and presentation of advice and documentation;
- Ensure that documents are managed and transmitted in accordance with approved information management systems and requirements;
- Undertake other duties that may be required to assist in the effective and efficient administration of the Minister’s office including attending meetings and events.
**What you'll need to succeed**
To be successful, you will have:
- An understanding of Government policy generally, coupled with an understanding of Government administrative structures including the functions of line agencies
- Must have Content Manager / TRIM exposure and experience
- A knowledge and understanding of the government departments, the function of Ministerial Offices and the political environment in which the position operates, or an ability to quickly acquire this
- Experience in reviewing documentation prepared by others to ensure information quality, presentation, grammar, spelling and punctuation are of high standard, and actively providing guidance to others in how to prepare documents appropriate for Ministers
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills to convey information and gain the cooperation of others in sourcing information to enable specified timeframes and quality standards to be met
- Well-developed organisational skills enabling the co-ordination and management of multiple tasks with competing timeframes where priorities are often changing
- You must be apolitical for the duration of your project.
**What you'll get in return**
You will receive an attractive casual hourly rate and work during standard business hours, Monday to Friday, completing a 38-hour standard week. You will get the opportunity to work semi-autonomously in a small team.
