**The Chancellery (Research and Enterprise) (CRE)** portfolio sits within the Chancellery Division and is led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) (DVC (R)). This teamwork in partnership with Academic Divisions to achieve the University’s research ambitions.

The DVC (R) is the accountable officer for research at the University ensuring research is conducted to the highest ethical standards and with a commitment to excellence.

**The Associate Director Research Innovation and Translation (AD-RIT)**:is a member of the team supporting the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) to deliver on the University’s ambitions for research and innovation, as articulated in _Advancing Melbourne 2030. _

This pivotal role requires your leadership in the development, coordination and maturation of key research translation and innovation strategies, initiatives and policies that contribute to the University’s research performance and impact.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Research Strategy, you will work collaboratively with colleagues across Chancellery, the Chief Operating Officer’s Portfolio and Academic Divisions.

As a senior member of staff, you will model and foster a collaborative and respectful team approach in achieving objectives within CRE and in working with members of the University community.

**About You**

We are seeking to appoint an individual capable of demonstrating their prior experience and knowledge of:

- university focused research innovation and translation initiatives
- research management
- university operations and innovation to bear on complex University-wide matters
- working across multiple faculties, thematic priorities, technical areas and disciplines.

A track record in the management and development of research translation and innovation initiatives and strategies, both within a university eco-system and in partnerships with research institutions and industry will be highly regarded.

You will also be capable of demonstrating your prior record of achievement and delivery in the following areas:

- regularly developing communication and stakeholder engagement plans
- desk top research
- analysis of external policies (e.g government), funding and collaboration opportunities
- highly developed problem solving and negotiation skills
- tactful communication capability
- delivering outcomes working within a complex environment

Finally, you will be comfortable to, and capable of representing the DVC(R), relevant PVCs and the CRE Executive Director of Research Strategy, both within the University and externally on committees, boards and groups that govern research, translation, and innovation initiatives.
