**About the team**

The **Office of the Chief Engineer**, which sits within the Safety, Risk and Assurance team, is a great place to work. The team has developed a genuine culture of professionalism, trust, and caring about what we do, enhancing Queensland Rail’s reputation, and looking after one another.

**About the role**

We are excited to offer this **permanent** opportunity for a highly experienced rail track and structures technical professional to join our team of Discipline Heads within the Office of the Chief Engineer. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will provide expert advice across Queensland Rail's executive leadership.

As a Discipline Head, you will lead a small team of seven senior engineers and technical experts while operating as a technical authority alongside the other Discipline Heads: Signal & Operational Systems, Systems Engineering, Electrical, Telecommunications, Facilities, Rollingstock and Business Resilience.

As the technical authority for **Track and Structures**, you will lead the development and approval of technical standards and technical specifications, including overseeing operational alignment to these standards and review and approve deviation from these standards for the Track and Structures discipline. The role will also maintain accountability of the discipline by overseeing operational alignment to the standards and influencing this alignment through good governance.

This position has its challenges and your ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment along with your exceptional stakeholder communication skills and ability to influence, prioritise, and manage your time will ensure your success in this role.

- High level of influencing, interpersonal, consultation, relationship building and negotiation skills that build and sustain productive relationships and partnerships.
- High level of written and oral communication skills, including writing reports, policy submissions and correspondence.
